Video shows flames shooting from engine of American Airlines flight following bird strike

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (CNN) — An American Airlines flight returned safely to Myrtle Beach after a reported bird strike caused flames to shoot from one of its engines shortly after takeoff.
Pilots issued a mayday call reporting they had struck birds and were experiencing engine problems.
Passenger video captured flames shooting from beneath the wing for several minutes.
American Airlines said the plane returned safely to Myrtle Beach and was removed from service for maintenance.
