‘This is for you’: Man accused of killing cousin after coming over to take a shower, report says
WACO, Texas (KWTX/Gray News) - A man in Texas is accused of killing his cousin after coming over to take a shower.
Michael Calhoun, 43, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Waco police responded to a home at 9:47 p.m. on Aug. 9 after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found 49-year-old Yotanca Calhoun dead.
According to the warrant, the victim’s wife was present when Michael Calhoun allegedly shot and killed her husband.
The wife told police that Michael Calhoun came to their home and asked to shower because he was sweaty. They let him in, and the couple sat on the couch while he was showering.
Michael Calhoun then exited the bathroom, said, “This is for you,” and allegedly opened fire at Yotanca Calhoun.
The victim’s wife immediately dropped to the floor under the table. Michael Calhoun attempted to shoot her, but ran out of bullets.
The woman then ran into a bedroom closet and Michael said, “Don’t do it,” according to the document.
The wife later heard Michael Calhoun exit the house. When she exited her bedroom, she found her husband on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds to his head, neck, shoulder, chest and groin area.
He remains behind bars at the McLennan County Jail on a $1 million bond.
