Family of victim in Amarillo house party shooting provide update
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Two people are recovering after being shot at a house party in the San Jacinto neighborhood.
Officers with the Amarillo Police Department responded to a shots-fired call at 3:15 a.m. on Sunday at a home on 3rd and Mississippi.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a man attended a house party at the home, where about 15 people were present.
During the gathering, the suspect displayed an AR-style rifle and was asked to leave the home.
After leaving the home, the suspect turned back toward the house and fired multiple rounds into the structure, shooting two people inside.
The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival and remains at large.
The mother of one of the victims, Michael McCray, spoke with NewsChannel 10 and shared an update on her son.
She says McCray suffered two bullet wounds, bruised lungs and broken ribs, but has been moved out of the ICU.
We are still working to find more information on the second victim.
