Amarillo organizations hosting ‘SOCKTOBER’ sock drive this month
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Public Library is teaming the City of Amarillo’s Coming Home Program and United Way Leadership Council to participate in SOCKTOBER sock drive for the month of October.
The Library and City aim to collect socks throughout the month for homeless shelters and those who need them.
Organizers say participants can donate new, adult sized socks at all five of their locations.
Coming Home will collect the socks with some to go into Care Kits assembled by the United Way Youth Leadership Council.
Organizers say these kits will then be given out during Community Development’s Point-In-Time count in January.
Others socks collected will be given directly to neighbors in the community who need them.
Organizers say their goal is 2,000 pairs of socks.
Donations will be accepted until October 31.
