TxDOT warning drivers of various upcoming lane closures around Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Texas Department of Transportation is alerting drivers to upcoming lane closures around Amarillo beginning this week.

TxDOT reports that starting Oct. 26, I-27 will have many lane closures going forward.

• Beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, the right lane of southbound I-27 from McCormick Road to SL 335 will be closed due to barrier wall placement. The overnight work should be complete by 6 a.m. Tuesday.
• I-27 will also have various lane closures from Bell Street to Washington Street due to patching operations throughout the week.

I-40 will also be facing lane closures. The road will be reduced to two lanes in both directions of traffic at Nelson Street as crews perform bridge maintenance operations. This work is expected to be complete early 2027.

The left lane of Loop 335 will be closed in both directions from Coulter Street to Tascosa Road for erosion repair operations. That work is expected to be completed on Thursday, October 29.

All projects are subject to change due to weather, emergency work and other unexpected events.
