“As a school community, we were heartbroken to learn of the passing of one of our students and are making support resources available to those who need them.”

As the family grieves, they are also searching for answers. Baton Rouge police have not released a motive or identified a suspect in Madison’s death.

Her aunt said the family’s message to investigators is simple: They want answers and justice for Madison.

“Please help us get the justice for Maddie. I will forever say ‘Justice For Maddie’ because she deserves it. Thirteen years old, a beautiful light, just if you know something, please say something,” Tenishea said.
