NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) - Police in Tennessee say four teenagers have been charged after a 16-year-old boy was killed in a drive-by shooting after a high school football game.

Cameron Frierson, 16, was killed in a drive-by shooting Aug. 21 after he went to a football game at Pearl-Cohn High School, according to Nashville police. It was around 10:30 p.m. when police say someone in a white sedan drove by and began shooting, hitting Cameron multiple times as his brother stood close by.

Now, police say four teenagers — ages 16, 17, 17 and 18 — have been arrested in connection with the killing. All four are charged with criminal homicide and engaging in a criminal conspiracy.

Police say all of the suspects were inside the white sedan when the shots that hit Cameron were fired. The investigation into a motive for the gunfire is ongoing.

‘I miss him so much’

Cameron’s parents spoke with WSMV after his death, describing their son as a teenager who was “truly being a kid” on the night he was killed.

Cameron was a student at Hunters Lane High School and the oldest of seven siblings. His mother, Brittany Frierson, said he loved football, cars and fashion. He had a dream of getting an HVAC degree and owning his own business.

“I miss him so much. I miss the laugh and his smile,” Frierson said.

Cameron’s mother said he worked two jobs but had the night off Aug. 21. He had been looking forward to going to the football game with his friends all week. She said no mother should ever have to worry about their child not coming home from a school football game.

“It could have been anybody’s child. It’s not right for us to live in the city and not enjoy the city. He was 16, just like any other 16-year-old,” Frierson said. “They weren’t doing anything wrong. Gun violence and these kids is serious.”
