They were born on the same day in the same hospital. Now they’re getting married
High school sweethearts have a unique love story.
CRANE, Mo. (InvestigateTV) - Inside of Crane High School, home of the Pirates, scavenging through decades of student pictures are Principal Tara Mease and science teacher Karen Faucett.
Their own children, Brayden Faucett and Lorene Mease, are included on the wall of graduates.
“Kind of a big year coming up,” reporter Chad Plein asked the women.
“Our kids are getting married,” Tara answered.
It’s not out of the ordinary for high school sweethearts to get married. It’s also not too unusual that both of their moms also graduated from the same school.
So, what is so unusual about this love story?
“I was born on July 7th, 2006,” Lorene said.
“[I was born on] July 7th, 2006,” Brayden said.
Lorene and Brayden were born on the same day, minutes apart, with Lorene being a bit older. In the same hospital. By the same doctor.
“When I got to the hospital, they were like, ‘We’re gonna have to try and delay. He’s in a C-section right now,’” Karen recalled.
“They’d gotten [Lorene] out, and a nurse stuck her head in the door and said, ‘Dr. Ting, those twins are coming right now,’” Tara continued.
“He came rushing in, and immediately they performed my C-section,” Karen said.
“Then found out later that it was the Faucett boys, that Karen was in the hospital, and he was rushing out of my C-section to go deliver her twins,” Tara said.
“We put it together that I had interrupted Lorene’s delivery,” Karen said.
Doing the math, the odds of a soon-to-be married couple being born on the same day, minutes apart, in the same hospital, by the same doctor, are 1 in 514 billion.
Lorene has a memory from the day she was born written inside her baby book.
“[My mom] wrote, ‘Mommy’s friend Karen Faucett had twin boys on the same day I was born,’” Lorene read from the book.
“We were around each other a little bit as kids, because our moms were friends from high school,” Lorene said about their childhood. “But Brayden and his brother never wanted me to hang around with them.”
Brayden recalled never hanging out with her as children. “But I guess, from what she tells me, me and my brother always told her it was our birthday and not hers.”
They started dating after their 16th birthday and haven’t looked back. Brayden popped the question earlier this year on a piece of land where they’ll one day build their home and live happily ever after.
“I just feel like it is so important to find someone who’s truly your best friend,” Lorene said. “I mean, we’ll be joking around sometimes, and then I’ll just kind of sit there like, ‘Wow, we’re going to get married.’ Like, we’re going to get to spend the rest of our lives together.”
“She always says it’s like we’re just best friends,” Brayden said. “And I said, ‘Well, there’s nothing wrong with that.’”
Lorene and Brayden have their date set and it’s not on their birthday in July. Lorene said she doesn’t want a summer wedding.
They’re getting married on October 3rd.
