TxDOT crews to make safety improvements to SH 70 bridge near Groom

GROOM, Texas (KFDA) - Residents in Groom can expect road closures as TxDOT crews make safety improvements to the SH 70 bridge at I-40.

Beginning August 26, the south SH 70 bridge at I-40, just east of Groom, will be closed for safety improvements.

The upgrades include repairs, new bridge rails and a concrete overlay.

Due to the bridgework, drivers can expect various single-lane closures below the bridge on I-40.

Traffic will be detoured down the frontage roads to south SH 70.

Detour signs will be in place to guide users.

The work is expected to be complete by the end of 2025.
