Amarillo man sentenced to 10 years prison for agreeing to sell explicit image of child

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A Randall County man will spend 10 years in prison for agreeing to sell another man a photo of a young child performing a sex act.
Amarillo police arrested Austin Nicholas James Moomaw, 26, in February 2025. He was booked into Randall County Jail on a charge of sexual performance by a child produce/direct/promote, a second-degree felony.
Court documents show that Moomaw told another individual that he would sell them the explicit images in August 2024.
Two weeks after his arrest, Moomaw entered into a plea deal wherein he was placed on 10 years deferred adjudication and pay a $2,000 fine.
Randall County court records show that he was arrested in August after prosecutors filed a motion to proceed following a reported probation violation.
The documents show that Moomaw’s violations involve drinking alcohol and failing to complete sex offender registration requirements.
On Monday, Moomaw appeared before 181st District Judge Tatiana Frausto, who revoked his probation and sentenced him to serve 10 years in prison.
Moomaw remains in Randall County Jail pending transfer to the prison system.
