DEAF SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KFDA) - An agenda for the Deaf Smith County Commissioners Court says it will meet Tuesday to talk about tax breaks for a proposed renewable energy project that could cost close to $2 billion.

The project would involve building a large solar energy farm and a wind farm. The agenda says IP Roman would use the energy generated by those to make hydrogen fuel that doesn’t emit carbon dioxide.

The hydrogen comes from separating hydrogen and oxygen in water molecules using electricity.

According to the agenda, the solar farm would cost about $440 million. The wind farm would cost about $780 million, and the hydrogen production plant would cost about $675 million.
