Mother charged with capital murder in deaths of 2 sons
WAXAHACHIE, Texas (KWTX/Gray News) — A Texas mother is facing two counts of capital murder after authorities said she shot and killed her sons Thursday morning.
Forty-two-year-old Colleen Nichole Lemmon of Waxahachie was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center following treatment at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies respond to 911 call
Ellis County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 4:13 a.m. Thursday to a 911 call reporting an unknown emergency at a home in the 900 block of Big Sky Drive in Waxahachie.
Deputies entered the home and discovered two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim, identified by authorities as 21-year-old Christopher Scott Pitre of Waxahachie, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim, a 15-year-old boy, was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries. The sheriff’s office said the teenager’s identity is being withheld.
Investigation and statement
Detectives developed probable cause through corroborating evidence recovered during the investigation that Lemmon was responsible for shooting both of her sons, the sheriff’s office said.
The victims’ father has been notified of both deaths.
“My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident,” Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said in a statement. “They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time.”
Jail records show Lemmon is charged with two counts of capital murder. Her bond is pending arraignment.
