Grand Jury indicts 2 accused of 2025 shooting outside Amarillo bar, leaving 2 wounded

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A Potter County Grand Jury indicted two men accused of shooting two people and leaving them wounded outside an Amarillo Bar in May 2025.
According to Potter County records, Steffan Kolton Sauls and Tyreick Larenz Branch were indicted on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after being accused of shooting at three people and leaving two wounded outside an Amarillo bar May 4, 2025.
The records say Amarillo police were called to Northwest Texas Hospital because of several gunshot victims.
The victims told officers that one of them had gotten into an argument with Sauls and another man at MJ’s Bar and Grill.
Records say later, Sauls and Branch pulled up behind two of the victims in their car. Everyone stepped out along with a third victim who attempted to stop the shooting.
Records say Sauls and Branch began shooting and hit two of the victims leaving them wounded.
Sauls made bond April 2026, but arrest reports show he was arrested again July 26 after being pulled over by a Texas DPS trooper.
The trooper found a gun in the glovebox of a car that Sauls was a passenger in.
The reports say Sauls told the trooper it was his cousin’s gun, but upon further investigation troopers found Sauls was a known member of the Hamlet Hillside Players gang.
Sauls was entered into the TXGANG database by Amarillo police in October 2024 for his affiliation.
Sauls was arrested and booked into the Potter County Jail for a separate charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a known gang member.
