One woman is dead as Amarillo Police investigate early morning shooting
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo Police are investigating an early morning shooting that left one woman dead in the San Jacinto neighborhood.
Officers were dispatched around 2:55 a.m. to a home near SW 8th Ave. and S. Maryland Street on a reported shooting.
At the scene, officers found multiple spent cartridge casings in the street and in the yard of two homes.
Inside a residence, officers located 40-year-old Moneke Denice Glass with gunshot wounds.
Officers began life-saving measures until Amarillo Medical Services arrived.
Glass was taken to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigation Units responded to the scene.
Officials are asking anyone who was in the area between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. to check outdoor or doorbell cameras and submit any video to APD’s evidence submission portal.
