AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A grand jury decided that there was enough evidence to formally charge an Amarillo man for an assault he committed in June.

Jabadrious Razhawn Williams, 24, is charged with aggravated assault causes serious bodily injury, a second degree felony.

In Texas, a second-degree felony can be punished by up to 20 years in prison.

On June 11, officers with Amarillo Police Department went to an apartment building near Northwest 19th and North Fannin Street on a 911 call.

When they arrived, they found a female victim with injuries to her legs.

The victim was at the apartment with Williams when the couple began arguing.

When the argument became physical, Williams began hitting the victim and then “pushed her down a flight of stairs.”

The victim was taken to the hospital where she was found to have two broken ankles.

Williams was arrested and taken to Potter County Detention Center.

Williams learned of the victim’s pregnancy right before the assault.

He has remained in Potter County Detention Center with a bond set at $50,000.

A Potter County grand jury indicted him on Friday.

Williams has a previous conviction of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2022.
