Claude author writes children’s book for newborn son

CLAUDE, Texas (KFDA) - Ruben meets up with a Claude author that wrote a children’s book for his newborn son.

Daniel Chambers, author of The Mountains of Claude, Texas, says when they found out his wife was pregnant, he wanted to show his son Bobby Jack a little bit of his hometown.

“I wanted to show him a little bit about it, but I also wanted to teach him about our faith and about Jesus and things like that,” said Daniel. “So I wanted to write a book for him.”

Daniel says he wrote The Mountains of Claude, Texas, on his iPad and illustrated it.

When he showed his wife, she told him he had to do something with it.

“The entire purpose behind this book is to share our faith in Jesus Christ through the lens of Claude, Texas,” said Daniel.

Candace Chambers, his wife and biggest fan, says she was very impressed.

“Daniel’s an English teacher and he teaches writing and reading and all of the things, but I had not ever seen his talent through a children’s book,” said Candace.

Candace says it was really neat to see it all come together, especially the illustrations.

“I’ve only ever seen finished work of his. I’ve never seen him actually do it, so it was impressive to see his talent in the children’s book industry,” said Candace.

Daniel says one of the best responses he’s had to his book is that people see the faith through it.

“They really appreciate the message that they see in it. You know, that teaching about faith in Jesus Christ through Claude,” said Daniel.

Daniel says he has already written another book called The Golden Rule of Claude, Texas.

He says it talks about the Golden Rule through the eyes of Claude. It’s already available on Amazon.

“There’s several others that are coming out that we’re going to release at Caprock Roundup, which is kind of fun and it’s under the blanket term Windy Tales Adventure,” said Daniel.

Daniel says it’s very exciting, and there’s something special here.

“It’s that faith in community that really makes Claude shine and really any small town, Amarillo, all of them,” said Daniel.
