Project Clean-Up: Resuscitating neighborhoods near Amarillo hospitals
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Project Clean-Up is setting its sights on the area near the hospitals this week.
Some of the alleys in that area were a “code red” and needed resuscitation!
The Fuller and Sons crew had its work cut out for this clean up.
Per the qualifications for a successful Project Clean-Up, no sitting down on the job!
The Fuller and Sons crew has to put up with a lot on these clean ups. Sometimes they seem like enough to fill a lumber yard, or in this case, the dump!
The areas targeted in this clean up are the alleys between Stubbs Street and Jordan Street, then the alleys along Jordan Street and Lockney Street. An alley near Linden Lane was also included in the clean up.
One of the biggest struggles for the crew this time around included pulling a huge tarp into the dumpster. It was a two man job!
It’s very rare that we go through a clean up without finding several mattresses and box springs... This clean up did not disappoint!
There is always a variety for the crew to clean up, that’s for sure.
Some things typically seen in clean ups include a box spring with no “spring” left, lots of lumber, nasty carpet padding that’s hard to imagine was in someone’s home and a loveseat that is no longer loved.
Another object found in this week’s clean up was an old treadmill. It was ready for the dump!
As we close the door on another successful Project Clean-Up, this one deserves a double thumbs up!
If you know of an area in Amarillo that needs some attention, you can submit a neighborhood nomination here.
A reminder: the roll-offs are for residents of the neighborhood and are not to be used for commercial dumping.
Remember, it takes all of us to keep Amarillo clean and beautiful!
