Project Clean-Up: Looking back on 2 years of success
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - It has been almost two years since Project Clean-Up began the task of helping Amarillo neighborhoods look better.
NewsChannel 10′s Greg Kerr interviews Fuller and Sons’ Jerrod Fuller about the progress that Project Clean-Up has made!
“Jerrod as we kind of look at what we have done over the last almost two years now, where does Project Clean-Up stand now? Because it seems like a lot of these neighborhoods have really gotten a nice combing through and a clean up,” said Greg Kerr.
“We’re two years into this project now. In two years, we’ve done over 50 clean-ups, hundreds of tons of trash, the Barrio, San Jacinto, Eastridge. We’ve still got work to do. There’s work still ahead of us, but we’re proud of the work we’ve been able to do, the amount of trash been able to pick up at this point,” said Fuller.
“Every other week I go through the video of what the crew is cleaning up. I’m just amazed by the amount of furniture and trash and limbs and all sorts of different things that they’re able to get down to the roll-offs and get done,” said Kerr.
“Yeah, this has been a problem that’s been facing the city for so long and we’re glad and we’re happy to work with the city of Amarillo. Us, Joe the Plumber, KFDA, all have been great partners in taking a problem that was building up and helping the city and helping the citizens kind of break this down to be more manageable,” said Fuller.
“Like I like to say at the end of the of the presentation that we give every other Wednesday night is the fact that it takes all of us to keep Amarillo beautiful. And that’s very true,” said Kerr.
“Absolutely. It takes every one of us. Like I said, the city has been an amazing partner and helping us with these roll-offs facilitating that stuff. And the people themselves have called in to NewsChannel 10 are sending to websites to tell us where’s the next place we need to go. We need that help as well,” said Fuller.
“About the immediate future of Project Clean-Up, are you still very optimistic about what’s been done,” Greg asked Jarrod.
“We’re always happy to be helping the city of Amarillo. We work here, we live here, this company’s been here for 76 years. We love this community and we want to get better and we want to feel good about the town we live in. And so, at Fuller Sons, we’re committed to helping this city win in how we can at any opportunity we can,” said Fuller.
