Project Clean Up: Youngsters pitch in near Palo Duro High School
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - It’s time again for Project Clean Up! This time, the crew rolls into the neighborhood near Palo Duro High School.
Along for the clean up are some volunteers who found out in a hurry that it’s a tough job and they’ve been tagged to do it!
Project Clean Up with an injection of youth joining the fabulous crew of Fuller and Sons.
Youth isn’t wasted on the young, they jumped right in! They got a taste of some heavy lifting with this junked recliner!
But, when it came to talking, they passed around the NewsChannel 10 microphone like it was a hot potato!
There was a lot of work to be done in the alleys of NE 11th to NE 15th between Arthur and Mirror. Afterwards, they went to the roll-offs at 3rd and Pierce downtown!
Back to the alleys, they found another character builder for the young men. They also encountered some problem solving exercises, like how to handle a nasty mattress!
Here’s something that’s much appreciated: a resident help loaded up this rotting mattress that will be better served at the city dump.
Give these kids some credit, they put in some effort to make this a successful clean up!
As importantly, these youngsters were sent to work the project to learn the value of community involvement.
“You get really hot and dirty out here and it kinda sucks a little bit. But at the end of the day, you’re cleaning up the city and it’s kinda worth it,” said 15-year-old Colton Stovall.
Lesson learned, because it takes all of us to keep Amarillo beautiful.

Remember, it takes all of us to keep Amarillo clean! Also, a reminder that the roll-offs you see at area parks and the downtown library are for residents and not commercial dumping!
