City employee killed in single-vehicle wreck

Amarillo, TX - A City of Amarillo employee is dead following a single-vehicle accident near downtown.

Police say 60 year-old Lonita Leal was driving a City of Amarillo pick-up under the railroad bridge at 10th Avenue near Grant Street when the truck hit the concrete wall, and then crossed lanes and hit the center support barrier.

Leal was pronounced dead at the scene, and an autopsy has been ordered.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
