CHICAGO (Gray News) - A Delta flight was reportedly hit by a firework while landing in Chicago on the Fourth of July.

Delta Air Lines Flight 1076 landed Saturday at Chicago’s Midway International Airport just before 8:40 p.m. Central, according to FlightAware.

Air traffic control audio obtained by CNN indicates that as the plane was landing, it was hit by a firework. The incident happened when the plane was at an altitude of 200 to 250 feet, The Associated Press reports.

“We’re just hoping it was just a mortar that went off underneath but definitely felt a big bang,” the pilot said.

Air traffic control told the pilot there had been multiple similar reports, and the city planned to notify Chicago Police.

No one onboard the flight was injured in the incident. The plane landed safely and was undergoing an evaluation, according to WMAQ.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate.
