Amarillo Youth Recognized for Non-Smoking Campaign

Preventing kids from smoking is a major goal of Tobacco Free Amarillo.

This afternoon, they awarded a group of area youngsters for their efforts to spread the message of not smoking.

The kids created their own artistic ads to help keep other kids stay tobacco free.

Breanne Bullard made her ad though, to warn parents about what message they send to their kids.

"It just dawned on me that when you smoke around your kids, they think that it's cool and they should do the same thing."

The prizes range from DVD players and other electronic devices for the older kids, to toy store gift cards for the little tykes.

The students range from Kindergarten through the 8th grade.
