CLOVIS, N.M. (KFDA) - Drivers in Clovis may need to detour for a long-term project in the city.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation will close the Prince Street and SH 70 overpass for up to nine months.

The $2.5 million project will upgrade the overpass, which was built in 1989.

Detours during the closure could add about ten minutes to travel time, according to NMDOT.

Among other parts of the project, workers will be overhauling pavement, sidewalks and lighting along the structure.
