AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Faith City Mission is now one step closer to their new location.
The non-profit announced today they were awarded the Affordable Housing Program Grant from FHLBank San Francisco, which is a $1.6 million grant.
The grant will help begin renovations for their new building at BSA's old hospice building.
The renovated building will become Faith City Mission's new downtown outreach center for the homeless.
"Providing emergency shelter and transitional housing with services for women, men and children in the Texas Panhandle is a critical step towards combating addiction and the homelessness that so often accompanies it," said Marietta Nunez, vice president and community investment officer at FHLBank. "We are glad that our AHP will support our member Raza Development Fund's partnership with Faith City on this very valuable project."
The total cost for the renovations is about $3 million. After this grant, Faith City Mission now needs roughly $700,000.
