BORGER, TX (KFDA) - A Borger woman has been arrested on one count of capital murder of her newborn child.
On Sunday, officers responded to what was initially reported as a still-born at a home in the 600 block of Montana.
Officials say 20-year-old Brisa Balvina Anaya Villa told police that she had not known she was pregnant and that the baby was not born alive.
An autopsy was ordered and performed the next day, and the preliminary autopsy report led detectives to continue to investigate the incident.
Officials say evidence on Villa's phone indicated that she had known that she was pregnant.
The Texas Rangers were called into the investigation and interviewed Villa.
An arrest warrant was issued for capital murder, and Villa was arrested without incident.
She will be arraigned this morning on $1 million bond with conditions.
