Woman fires shots at thief, police say

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Amarillo Police Department is searching for a suspect they believe robbed an Amarillo resident.

On Dec. 12, around 5:30 p.m., APD officers were dispatched to the IDK Sports Bar & Grill at 1301 SW 6th St. on a robbery with shots fired.

The female victim told officers that she was walking in the parking lot when she was approached by a male.

The male grabbed her purse and she fought back.

The victim is a licensed handgun carrier and was able to get her handgun out of a holster on her body and fire at least four shots at the suspect.

The suspect fled the scene, but was able to get away with the victim's purse.

The suspect is described as being a tall white male with a thin build.

He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a white baseball cap, and had noticeable stubble on his face.

The suspect was last scene running eastbound in the 1000 block of SW 7th Avenue.

The victim did not sustain any major injuries and it's unknown if the suspect was struck by any of the shots.
