Large sink hole opens up in Hall County

HALL COUNTY, TX (KFDA) - Repairs are underway after a large sink hole opened up on a major highway in Hall County.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office says they received a call about the sink hole around 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The hole on U.S 287, just north of the Red River Bridge, around mile marker 214 -- estimated at 20 to 25 feet deep and 10 to 12 feet wide.

Multiple units responded to the scene including, Memphis Police, Memphis Fire, The Texas Department of Public Safety, and TxDOT.

Drivers are asked to use caution in the area. Traffic in this area is down to one lane until the road is repaired.
