UPDATE: Police searching for drivers in deadly street racing wreck

UPDATE: Amarillo police say a street race ended with one man dead and a woman in serious condition. Now officials are searching for two others drivers believed to be involved.

Around 7 p.m. Friday night police say James Sutton, 24, was driving a silver Tahoe near 34th and S. Grand St. They believe Sutton started street racing with a yellow Mustang and a gray pick-up truck. An investigation shows Sutton's SUV struck a curb and rolled several times.

Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Christy Ann Breece, 29, was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.  A child's car seat was also found at the scene but after a search police say no child was found.

The driver of the Mustang has been identified, the name has not been released. Police are still trying to locate the truck and it's driver involved in the incident.

AMARILLO - A driver lost control of his car on 34th St. near Caprock High School this evening and was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled into the culvert.

That driver died at the scene in what witnesses speculate was a street race.

A child's car seat was found in the center of the street, leading officers to search the area for a child. However, none was found.

It is believed a passenger was in the car and has been taken to the emergency room.
