AMARILLO---Investigators need help in figuring out who shot and killed an Amarillo grandmother nearly two years ago.

The body of 55-year-old Sherry Mondragon was wrapped inside a rare rug and stuffed into a garage in a home on North Spring Street back in April of 2009. Mondragon was reported missing by her father nearly three months before her body was discovered. Autopsy results show, she had been shot in the back before her body was dumped. Investigators still do not have any strong leads as to who is responsible for murdering her.

"It is so so sad. I can understand losing someone to an illness, but for someone to take their lives, its terrible, you just don't expect it." said Al Mondargon, the victim's father.

Mondargon also tells NewsChannel 10, the family's relationship with God has helped ease their pain, but they still ask anyone who knows what happened to Sherry, to come forward.

Even though investigators released  pictures of the rare rug Mondragon was found in shortly after it happened, they have received no tips about the rug.

If you know anything about the rare rug or Sherry Mondragon's murder, you are urged to call Potter Randall Special Crimes at 378-9468.
