Amarillo, Texas - There's a small business boom going on right now in Amarillo.

As NewsChannel 10's Kristen Guilfoos tells us, people are flocking to the WT Enterprise Center at record rates.

Whether it's extra pressure, added responsibility for less pay or worries over job stability.... More and more people are deciding it's time to be their own boss.

We sat down with the folks at the Enterprise Center today, who say they're seeing a surge in interest in opening small businesses.

In just the past year, the center has helped 10 companies get off the ground. The center, which is designed to help jump start small business, says everyone stands to benefit.

Center Director and Founder David Terry says, "when a company starts here, a primary income business, one job will support, the multiplier is now 2.5 jobs in the government, service and retail sectors of our economy."

Right now, the enterprise center is working with 41 companies that employ more than 300 people. They bring around 27-million dollars into the local economy.

The majority of that money comes from nationwide sales of those locally made products, meaning it's new money coming in, not the same dollars being used and re-used over and over again.
