Mass shooters have the desire to be recognized and typically let people know they are about to commit an act of violence before hand. Arpero says there are almost always red flags.

A lot of people think that larger guns are most used in gun violence cases. However, experts say it’s actually hand guns used most often.

Amarillo police believe when tensions are high and substances are present, the consequences can snowball and sometimes turn fatal.

“In Amarillo specifically most of the gun violence is really concentrated in about three neighborhoods. It’s Eastridge, it’s the North Heights and its San Jacinto,”

A recent analysis over gun violence trends in Amarillo shows gun violence cases come down to one of four factors. One being gang violence.

Experts say that since they saw an uptick in gun violence back in 2019, not only has it continued to rise, but they saw an uptick in domestic violence as well.
