NewsChannel 10 Weekend Meteorologist
Adrian Campa graduated from the University of Kansas May of 2021 with a degree in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology and a minor in Journalism. He moved to Amarillo, Texas following graduation.
Adrian was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, which is traditionally known as being the "heart of tornado alley." Growing up in Kansas, being around a lot of severe weather and other extreme weather events, he developed a passion for weather at a young age. His interest in weather began taking shape when a significant ice storm hit south-central KS during the winter of 2005 where some locations saw ice accumulations of 3" and many were without power for weeks. You could catch him glued to the tv watching The Weather Channel watching big weather events unfold.
He has chased a lot of storms in Kansas, but not just in his home state, but also into Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. His favorite severe storm chase to date was a photogenic supercell in Florence, Ks that was producing baseball-size hail. The most intense storm system he has chased (so far) was major category 4 hurricane Laura, which hit and devastated southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas August of 2020.
During his free time, Adrian likes to spend time with his family and friends, especially his younger siblings, teaching them about the weather. He also greatly enjoys binge watching movies and Tv shows on Netflix. His absolute favorite thing to do is storm chasing watching the clouds and seeing just how fast the weather can change in the blink of an eye.
