City officials unveil new hangar at Guymon Municipal Airport
GUYMON, Okla. (KFDA) - A new hangar is housing planes at Guymon Municipal Airport, providing a critical transportation asset for Oklahoma Panhandle agriculture and energy development.
The new 12,000-square-foot hangar expands the airport’s ability to accommodate visiting aircrafts and business aviation traffic. It also creates new opportunities for revenue generation and economic activity in Texas County and elsewhere.
“It’s an investment because we have a lot of people that fly into Guymon, and for many of them, that’s their first impression of our community. So having that hangar there just shows we are willing to invest in everyone who comes across Guymon — not just people that drive through or anything like that,” said Annette Gandara, City of Guymon.
The hangar project began in November of 2025.
Funding came through a partnership between the Federal Aviation Administration, Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, and the City of Guymon.
“For us to bring in any kind of economic stability from any, you know, any facet from the airport to the golf course, anything like that, it brings in more people and the more stability we have within Guymon itself, it sustains and supports every single part of Guymon,” said Gandara.
Guymon Municipal Airport is the largest public airport in the Oklahoma Panhandle and serves about 19,000 annual aircraft operations and more than 30 based aircrafts.
