Amarillo Zoo transitions to “Amarillo Zoo & Sanctuary,” temporary closure set for April

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Zoo is entering a new chapter after officially transitioning to Amarillo Zoo & Sanctuary.

This marks a new effort focused on supporting both the community and the animals in its care.

Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (WWWRC) announced the change on the Amarillo Zoo’s Facebook today.

As part of the transition, the zoo will temporarily close to the public beginning April 3 through April 26.

Officials say the closure will allow time for staff changes, operational updates, and preparations ahead of reopening.

The zoo is scheduled to reopen on April 27.

Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center encourages those to follow along on social media for updates as the sanctuary begins this new phase.
