CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Ruben visits a restaurant in Canyon that is proud to bring homestyle cooking to the area.

Rene Vogler, co-owner of This Little Piggy Serves Food, says they originally started two years ago in a food truck.

“The food truck was a giant pig, and it was sometimes at market and sometimes at home,” said Rene. “So we named it, ‘This Little Piggy Serves Food.’”

Rene says they came to Canyon because they weren’t looking to get into the restaurant business. They weren’t looking to have a permanent location.

“We were going to just do the food truck until we retired and that was going to be it,” said Rene. “Nate, the manager here, contacted us while we were on vacation actually, and he said, ‘Would you consider a permanent location?’”

Rene says they thought Nate meant a permanent location for the food truck. Instead, he showed the Voglers the restaurant spot.

“It was 110 degrees in the food truck most days, so we decided it would be temperature controlled probably an easier setting,” said Rene. “We’ve been here since December of last year, so we just celebrated our first birthday here.”

Co-owner Tim Vogler says they were doing a lot of buffets because it was just the two of them and sometimes they couldn’t keep up.

They got into the golf season and business just picked up.

“Community support is what we thrive on. I mean, without the community, we couldn’t exist here,” said Rene.

Rene says her main love in the world is to feed people and have them enjoy their food. That’s where she finds the most pleasure in life.

“We want people to feel like they came to our house and this is what we’re having for supper tonight. So we want that down home, homestyle feeling,” said Rene.

This Little Piggy Serves Food is located at 19501 Chaparral Road.
