AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Panhandle Adult Rehabilitation Center (PARC) is now one step closer to serving the community in its new facility.

According to the PARC co-founder Valerie Gooch, the new facility will be almost three times larger than its former building.

“I want them to understand how important they are, and how special and valued that they are. This building is going to be a great place for them to know that and see that and to feel that. So, it makes me excited that more can come,” said Gooch.

This will allow for more space for daily classes as well as additional bathrooms.

The PARC says it’s currently operating in a temporary building. They saw a dip in attendance, but has since been serving a number of members not seen in previous years.

“There are just more of those experiencing homelessness. We see more and more coming into that through different types of situations, and the PARC is a place where it is peaceful and it’s safe, and so this where they want to come,” said Gooch. “Especially those who are wanting to move forward,”

Gooch says due to a price increase in building materials, they are still looking for donations for the project.

It is expected to be completed at the end of May.
