Some experiencing power outages in Amarillo due to flooding

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - There are multiple reported power outages throughout Amarillo.

According to the Xcel Outage Map, more than 850 people are without power as of 1:45 p.m. on Friday, June 9.

The outages are mostly in the area between Western Street and South Georgia Street near I-40, Plains Boulevard and Southwest 34th Avenue.

Xcel spokesman Wes Reeves said the company cut power after a request by the flooding response incident commander citing safety reasons.

The Amarillo Fire Department says Xcel shut power down to the neighborhood in the area between Western and Georgia and from Mockingbird to I-40. Crews will be assessing the situation, and a restoration time is not available.
