Watch the entire news conference as Rowdy Freeman is introduced as the new Caprock Head Football Coach
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - On Tuesday, the Caprock Longhorns introduced Rowdy Freeman as the school’s next head coach.
“Coaching has been in my blood for my entire life. From the time I hit the ground.” Freeman said at his introductory press conference. “I was made for this.”
Freeman has spent 15 years in the Caprock school system in a variety of roles ranging from middle school to high school. Most recently, he held the position of associate head coach under Dan Sherwood on the football team.
“I’ve been in this thing for 15 years and probably been waiting on this chance for 15 years.” Freeman added on his time at Caprock.
The announcement comes just one day after Sherwood made the move to join Randall High School as the next head coach for the football team.
Freeman is the grandson of legendary Panhandle football head coach Stocky Lamberson. He played football at Panhandle and West Texas A&M prior to his coaching career.
Freeman hopes to keep most of the staff left behind from Sherwood’s tenure with the team intact heading into next season.
“I was comfortable taking it and I was comfortable where were going because of the 12 guys that say around that island table... They’re still in that room and they share the same vision I do. Like I said, we’re gonna be just fine.”
Caprock football will start camp at the end of July. Stick with TPSN and NewsChannel10 for continuing coverage of his Freeman’s first year as the head coach at Caprock.
