UPDATE: 16-year-old boy arrested on manslaughter charge after juvenile found dead with gunshot wound

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A 16-year-old was arrested on a manslaughter charge after a juvenile boy was found dead with a gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon.

The Amarillo Police Department said at 1:32 p.m, officers were called to a home in the area of South Jefferson Street and Southwest 7th Avenue.

Officers found a male juvenile dead in a vehicle from a gunshot wound.

Detectives interviewed several witnesses.

The 16-year-old boy was charged with manslaughter and was booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains.

APD’s Homicide Unit is investigating the death.
