First Alert: Heat Wave Continues Today
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Saturday and Sunday were record breaking in terms of heat, with 106 being reached each day, with some towns across the region seeing all-time heat records (Tucumcari hit 112 on Saturday).

As for Monday, we’re expecting heat to continue, however it might not be quite as hot. Highs should be in the high 90s or low 100s for most of the region. In terms of heat advisories, as of this morning the only advisory issued today is for the canyon, where temperatures are likely to be 105+.

We strongly advise people to drink plenty of water, take breaks from the heat in shady and cool places, and check on elderly or special needs friends that may need help in staying cool.

The heat will continue today, and from here on out, we’ll steadily drop into the 90s.
Strenuous outdoor work or recreational activities like hiking or running should be limited to mornings and evenings, you recognize the possibility of someone suffering from heat stroke or dehydration, seek immediate medical attention.
