AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Thousands of truckers and supporters made a stop in Amarillo as they are making their way to Washington D.C.

‘The People’s Convoy’ is what they call themselves, inspired by the recent protests seen in Canada.

They began this cross-country trek in California working their way east to the nation’s capitol to protest COVID-19 restrictions and in support of other freedoms.

Overpasses on I-40 were packed as the convoy came through with supporters cheering them on and waving flags.

The convoy stopped in Amarillo in between The Big Texan and Starlight Ranch holding a rally point.

They are now on the way to Elk City, Oklahoma where they will be staying overnight before they continue on their journey to Washington D.C.

It’s scheduled to arrive in the D.C. beltway area next Saturday evening.
