GARLAND, Texas (KFDA) - The Bushland Lady Falcons make history, winning back-to-back 3A UIL Volleyball State Championships. The Lady Falcons defeated Gunter in four sets, 24-26, 25-21, 25-23 and 25-23.

Junior middle hitter and Division I basketball prospect Emma Troxell led Bushland with 17 kills and secured the UIL 3A State MVP Award. Teammate Kaela Neie added 16 kills with five blocks.

“I just don’t think out there,” said Troxell. “Coach (Jason) Culpepper says just have fun, so that’s what I do. I just know I can do it, so I do it.”

Senior Captain Jaycee Adams wrapped up the game with 22 digs after a successful four years at Bushland. She brought home three State Tournament medals and two titles. Next year, Adams will play libero at West Texas A&M.

Only three other Panhandle teams have achieved the feat of winning consecutive titles twice: Amarillo High and Dumas. The Lady Falcons accomplished their first back-to-back in 2007 and 2008.

“We live off the tradition of the Amarillo High teams, the Hereford teams, the Dumas teams,” said Culpeper. “We won a title at Randall when I was there. It’s a Texas Panhandle thing. We take pride in girls athletics”

Bushland ends their season with an overall record of (35-5) and improves their playoff win streak to 14. For full game stats, please visit
