Fire Marshals continue investigating fire at Jenkins Doors and Windows in downtown Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Fire Marshals Office continues to investigate the cause of a fire at Jenkins Doors and Windows in downtown Amarillo early this morning.

An Amarillo Police Department officer called in the fire around 5:00 a.m. after noticing smoke in the area.

When units arrived at the building at 1022 Southwest 5th Avenue, they entered the front of the building and knocked the fire down.

Due to the heavy fire load and size of the building, crews exited the building as conditions continued to deteriorate. Crews called a second alarm at that time to bring in more manpower and equipment.

The fire was considered under control around 9:07 a.m.

Fire crews remain on scene to put out hot spots.

No one was in the building at the time, and no injuries have been reported.
