AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Next season, keep an eye on Tascosa alum Shahada Wells. The 6′ guard committed to the TCU Horned Frogs, and he has two years of eligibility remaining. The former Rebel played guard at UT Arlington this past season, averaging 16.8 points, 3.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game.
Wells was highly recruited, especially for his ball handling speed, but it came down to Colorado and TCU. Wells’ big decision was decided by his dream to play in the Big 12. As a tascosa alum, Wells is excited to play against Texas Tech in Lubbock, so his supporters can come out and watch.
”It already feels like I made it just to be in the Big 12. Just to be on this team where I can play on National TV every night, and it’s just a blessing man. I just thank God everyday for putting me in this position to play,” said Wells. “At Tascosa I feel Coach Jackson prepared me as a player, but he prepared me as an individual in life.”
Wells will back in the number 13 jersey for the Horned Frogs. He wears that number to honor his grandmother, a place where he grew up on 13th street in Amarillo.
