SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KFDA) - The Clarendon Broncos punched their ticket to the UIL State Championship for the fifth time in school history, looking to end their 0-4 drought. A strong defensive effort by Clarendon secured the program’s first state championship ever, winning 64-60 over Grapeland.
Just seconds left in the game Clarendon found themselves trailing to Grapeland. A steal and a long inbound pass sealed the deal for the Broncos. Donovan Thompson, one of two seniors, earned MVP with a game-high 21 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist.
