Man arrested after owner of Rumors Bar killed in shooting

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Police Department said a suspect has been arrested after a woman was killed in a shooting at Rumors Bar early Sunday.

Officials said 25-year-old Trecoby Leon Campbell has been arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center after APD Homicide Detectives secured a murder warrant.

APD said Campbell is the suspect in a shooting yesterday morning that left one woman dead.

The woman was identified as 56-year-old Cindy Kay Jayroe. Friends and family identified her as the owner of the bar.

“Cindy truly was loved. Her smile captivated everyone and she loved everyone,” said Josh Jayroe, her son. “As much as we’re hurting and we’re going to miss her, we’re all going to try to stand together and honor her the way she wanted...we’re going to celebrate her and the life she lived.”

Police said several shots were fired in the parking lot and the suspect fled the scene.

The APD Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
