State health officials report 24 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death in Eastern New Mexico

CDC recommends masks in public settings

SANTA FE, N.M. (KFDA) - State health officials reported 24 new cases of COVID-19 in Eastern New Mexico counties today.

The report shows eight new cases in Curry County, two in Quay County, one in Roosevelt County and 13 in Union County.

Officials also reported the death of a man in his 50′s from Curry County. He was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.

The number of deaths of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 3,644.

Including the newly reported cases, New Mexico has now had a total of 183,335 COVID-19 cases.

As of today, there are 261 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19.

135,608 people in New Mexico have recovered from the virus.

There are 7,379 positive COVID-19 cases across Eastern New Mexico:

Curry County: 4,894

Quay County: 418

Roosevelt County: 1,831

Union County: 236

There have been 131 deaths related to COVID-19 in Eastern New Mexico:
