AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Girl Scout Cookie season begins Friday, and placing an order for the beloved cookies looks a bit different this year.

Area Girl Scouts are coming up with creative, socially distant ways to keep themselves and customers safe in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes contract-free pickup and delivery orders through a collaboration with delivery platform, Grubhub.

“Our Girl Scouts are ready to take the lead in this year’s cookie program by using their flexibility and ingenuity to create a safe environment for their cookie businesses. We are thrilled we have a variety of community partners helping to ensure this year’s cookie program is a success for our young cookie entrepreneurs,” says Becky Burton, CEO of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains.

Amarillo Girl Scouts will be participating in the national collaboration with Grubhub so the girls have a way to facilitate contact-free cookie orders.

The cookie season in Amarillo will be January 15 to March 7.

Customers can reach out to a registered Girl Scout they know, visit Girl Scouts online, text COOKIES to 59618, or use the Girl Scout Cookie Finder app to find cookie booths in the area.
