AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Buffs men’s basketball team’s 45-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday after the Pioneers defeated WTAMU 87 to 78.
“It was a tough one for us to swallow,” said head coach Tom Brown. “I think our guys were pretty down about it, I know I was pretty down about it.”
The Buffs men’s team is still ranked third in the country despite the loss to Dallas Baptist. Brown hopes to start a new winning streak, starting with their next game on Thursday against UT Permian Basin.
“They have a really good post inside, I don’t know his name because I’m just watching film right now and trying to figure out what they like to do,” said Brown.
This game will be the men’s first true road game of the season.
The WTAMU women’s basketball team has faced their fair share of scheduling issues so far this weekend, most recently a cancelled double-header intended to play last weekend. On Jan. 11 the Buffs made a new addition to their schedule to play Oklahoma Baptist on Jan. 12, giving the Buffs just one day to prepare for the match.
“We’re going to see a team that’s going to play a lot of 2-3 zone,” said head coach Kristen Mattio. “We may see that the whole entire game.”
