Palo Duro Dons basketball still undefeated

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Palo Duro Dons boys basketball team is still undefeated as they gear up for district play on Friday. With 12 unanswered wins secured heading into their game against the Randall Raiders, the Dons are confident they can keep it up.

“Even though we’re still a very young team we’ve had some kids that have big games with us and have been on varsity since they were freshman and sophomores,” said Dons head Coach Jeff Evans.

“You know experience is the best teacher,” said Evans. “So that’s been a big factor on our good start this year.”

On Friday Jan. 8 the Dons face the 13-1 Randall Raiders for the first district game of the season.

“When you start district season it starts to feel like a new season is starting,” said Evans. “Those 12 games that we were fortunate to win don’t mean a lot going into tomorrow night.”

Evans says that the district presents a lot of tough competition that he is very familiar with.

“It looks to me like they’re all playing really well in non-district,” said Evans. “So you know every game is going to be the biggest game of the year up to that point.”

Tip off against the Randall Raiders is at 7:00pm at Palo Duro High School.
